Sample Schedule
While subject to change, the following schedule gives participants an idea of what to expect in this program.
Overview of the Approach – An overview of a leadership framework for analyzing challenges and framing problems with success criteria, using interactive cases to explore risk, opportunity, values, and persuasive strategies for stakeholder cooperation.
Problem Formulation & Managing Risk – This session builds upon the initial framework by focusing on how decision-makers formulate problems and manage risk, emphasizing the need to consider the full portfolio of possibilities, the risks of inaction, the diverse interests of stakeholders, and the pitfalls of myopic thinking.
Leadership and Influence – Explore ethical strategies leaders can use to secure the cooperation and support of diverse internal and external stakeholders for their vision, emphasizing the critical difference, including the difference between persuasion and manipulation, nudges and dark nudges, and the difference between cooperative and uncooperative communication.
Trust and Accountability – This session focuses on trust as a key ingredient to effective leadership and the role of accountability in promoting trust. It highlights the importance of aligning practical incentives with the values, goals, and criteria for evaluation that promote success for individuals and organizations.
Group Work – In this final session, participants work in small groups to discuss ways in which the content from the day highlights opportunities for change, alters their view of success or failure, highlights strengths or weaknesses in their interactions with others, or better prepares them to meet the challenges of the rapid pace of innovation and disruption. These small group discussions are then shared with the larger group in a final, participant-led discussion.
