Participant Insight

"Design Thinking pushes us to be iterative and helps me keep hope alive. This program is seriously shifting how I think about AI—not just as a tool for convenience, but as a creative partner that can help unlock new ways of solving problems. One of the coolest moments so far? Getting hands-on with OpenAI, Figma AI and Fliki AI—not just for rapid prototyping but even crafting a full-on commercial. Seeing these tools in action has me thinking about how AI can push the boundaries of design, accessibility, storytelling, and conflict-solving in more equitable, human-centered ways. AI isn’t here to replace creativity—it’s here to expand it. And when we pair it with Design Thinking, we make sure innovation is driven by real people, real needs, and real impact. I can’t wait to bring these insights into my work in the arts, history, and museum spaces."

– Vice President, IDEA, Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh

Sample Schedule

While subject to change, the following schedule gives participants an idea of what to expect in this program.

Introduction – Ming Ming Chapman
We begin by reframing what it means to solve complex problems today. This session introduces Design Thinking as a flexible, human-centered approach—now amplified by AI’s ability to widen our perspective, surface new insights, and spark creative leaps. Participants see how AI becomes a collaborative partner in thinking: expanding what we notice, strengthening how we reason, and opening space for more imaginative possibilities.

Discover – Jonathan Chapman
Discover widens the lens. Participants explore the broader landscape around a challenge—what influences it, what shapes it, and what sits beneath the surface. AI accelerates this sensemaking: pulling in diverse viewpoints, revealing patterns, and spotlighting nuances that help teams see the challenge with fresh eyes. The goal is a deeper understanding, not quick answers.

Define – Jonathan Chapman
Define sharpens focus. Participants move from broad exploration to a clear, well-framed statement of what they’re actually trying to solve. AI helps compare different versions of the problem, pressure-test assumptions, and refine the language so the challenge is expressed with precision and purpose. A strong definition sets the foundation for meaningful creativity.

Ideate – Jonathan Chapman
Ideate opens creative flow. Participants generate possibilities—many of them—and learn to stretch beyond familiar thinking. AI acts as a creative accelerant, helping visualize early ideas, introduce new angles, and push concepts into unexpected territory. The aim is momentum, energy, and a wide field of promising directions—not premature convergence.

Day One Closing – Jonathan Chapman
We close by stitching the day together. Participants reflect on what shifted in their thinking, how AI expanded their view, and how each stage builds toward the next. We preview Day Two’s transition from possibility to prototype—moving ideas into forms people can react to, challenge, and evolve.

Prototype & Test – Ming Ming Chapman
Prototype & Test turns ideas into something others can actually experience. Participants build simple, expressive prototypes that give shape to future possibilities. AI speeds this transformation by helping bring concepts to life through vivid visual or narrative forms. Teams share their prototypes, gather feedback, and iterate—refining clarity, strengthening the message, and elevating the work.

Team Presentations – Ming Ming Chapman + Jonathan Chapman
Teams present their prototypes through concise, compelling storytelling. The emphasis is on clarity, resonance, and the decision-making power of well-framed ideas. AI-enhanced storytelling helps convey concepts with confidence, enabling productive critique and stronger alignment across the group.

The Future of Design Thinking with AI – Ming Ming Chapman + Jonathan Chapman
This forward-looking conversation explores how AI is reshaping creativity, collaboration, and leadership. Participants consider new skills, emerging opportunities, and the evolving role of design thinking as AI becomes part of everyday strategic work. The session highlights how organizations can use human–AI collaboration to navigate complexity with greater agility and imagination.

Program Closing – Ming Ming Chapman + Jonathan Chapman
We end by translating insight into action. Participants reflect on what they’ve learned, identify next steps, and leave with a clear plan for applying AI-enabled design thinking in their own teams and organizations. The goal: lasting impact, sustained momentum, and a renewed confidence in tackling complex challenges.
