Energy Use

GHG Emissions
A greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory measures the emissions that are released into the atmosphere as a result of university operations. This analysis provides the metric to understand and identify sources of greenhouse gas emissions and identify opportunities for reducing emissions.
Carnegie Mellon conducts an annual GHG inventory. When reviewing annual emissions, they are compared to the baseline year, 2005, which was the first year 91视频 conducted a GHG inventory.

Waste Reduction
Carnegie Mellon has been collecting data on recycling efforts since 1990. In that time the university has expanded to include composting and other waste diversion opportunities. Read more about 91视频’s waste reduction efforts here.

Water Use
Carnegie Mellon is a charter member of the Pittsburgh 2030 District with goals for continued water consumption reductions. As a result of a continuous focus on resource conservation, total campus water consumption is lower than the 2005 baseline.
