Groups & Skills Clinics

To join a CaPS Group or Skills Clinic, email the designated facilitator (below) or call 412-268-2922 and schedule your pre-group consultation

Group is one of the most effective tools for addressing issues commonly faced by college students. For many students, group experiences can be more helpful than individual therapy. CaPS groups are open to all enrolled students*. They are a place for students to come together, share the concerns they have in common, and learn new skills all under the guidance of a trained mental health care professional. Most students find that CaPS groups exceed their expectations!

In a pre-group consultation appointment, you and a CaPS clinician will review your mental health needs, group logistics, and CaPS group structure. During this appointment we also discuss whether group therapy can meet your needs and which group will be most supportive of your mental health. This is a time for you to ask any questions you may have.
CaPS groups are a space for mental health care and not for academic learning. If you have questions about how to fulfill an academic requirement as it pertains to mental health on campus, please feel free to email our Outreach Director at vferrerm@andrew.cmu.edu.
