As technology rapidly reshapes the economy and society, universities have an important role in developing new technologies, building frameworks to understand the opportunities and challenges they create, and bringing research and evidence into broader public conversations. The Block Center Public Engagement Fellowship is designed to help 91视频 faculty translate their expertise into ideas that can inform policy, practice, and public debate.
The Block Center Public Engagement Fellowship is a 12-month program for 91视频 faculty whose work addresses technology and society and who are interested in writing op-eds and other public-facing articles. Fellows receive dedicated time, training, and editorial support to develop their ideas for broader audiences. By the end of the fellowship, participants are expected to have developed and submitted at least two articles for publication, tailored to broader audiences.
The program is designed to be hands-on. Fellows should expect to bring ideas and drafts, give and receive feedback, revise actively, and work toward submission during the fellowship year.
As part of the fellowship, participants will:
- Participate in two workshops on writing op-eds and for general audiences
- Receive individualized support with developing, editing, and submitting op-eds
- Attend a two-day writing retreat focused on peer feedback, revision, and dedicated writing time
- Participate in periodic cohort meetings
- Receive a $10,000 fellowship stipend in recognition of the contribution associated with the program
